Welcome to the Black Friday Files. For the next 4 days, I'm sharing the behind-the-scenes stories of my top 4 Black Friday campaigns (out of the 8 that I've run). I'm counting down from my 4th best... to my absolute top money-maker ever (that'll be shared on Friday). Why? Because every campaign (even the "just okay" ones) taught me something about what actually makes people buy. And I figure you can learn from my experiments without having to run them yourself. So let's start with #4 β a scrappy little campaign that happened while I wasn't even there. β¨ Lets go back β¨ ... It's November 2023. I'm off on maternity leave, deep in the newborn phase, and my team is in charge of planning our entire Black Friday promotion β the offer, the sales page, the emails, everything. What did they decide to do while I was away? They pulled up what worked in a previous year and ran it again. Yep. They literally reused an old campaign. The emails. The offer structure. Even the warm-up sequence. But here's where it gets interesting... They didn't just hit copy-paste and call it a day. They took what worked and gave it a fresh spin with 4 fresh bonuses β but with a twist. The catch? People only got ALL four bonuses if they joined on Day 1. Here's what they dangled:
The warm-up started November 8th with a simple "join the waitlist" email. Then 3 more value-packed emails (all repurposed oldies-but-goodies) leading up to cart open on November 14th. Each email drove home one message: Be ready on Day 1 if you want everything. The result? 35 yearly memberships sold at $290 each. With upsells, that "recycled" campaign brought in $11,050. Not our biggest Black Friday ever, but pretty good for a mostly copy-paste job. The takeaway: You don't need to reinvent the wheel for every promotion. Your audience is growing. New people haven't seen your best stuff. And even those who have? They need to hear things multiple times before taking action. But the key? Adding in a fresh spin (like new bonuses that expire) can make an old offer feel urgent again. Speaking of not reinventing the wheel... I'm running my own flash sale this week on Take It To The Bank β my complete system for creating Black Friday promotions in 6 weeks (or just hours, if you use my new A.I. It's 4am Saturday night and I wake up to find my 2.5-year-old standing at the edge of our bed. I first thought he must have fallen out of his crib and hurt himself. But no, TZ had figured out how to escape. The next day I asked him to show me his technique. He popped out of his Woolino sleep sack, swung one leg over the crib rail, stepped onto the nearby rocking chair, and climbed down like it was nothing. (With his trusty lion pillow and water bottle in hand, of course.) For months, I'd been...
Last week, I shared my birth story over on Instagram and TikTok, something I've been meaning to do for months but haven't had the headspace for. The response blew me away. Close to 1 million views over on TikTok, people sharing their own birth stories, and thanking me for being real about the hard parts. Now I'm a girl mom. And something Iβve been thinking about lately is that one day, my daughter (we call her Bunny) will hear her own birth story. The real story β including all the fear,...
I was scrolling my FB feed last week, when an ad popped up that actually stopped my scroll: Rachel Rodgers was hosting an event in Barcelona. This never happens, I thought. Most online business events are in the U.S. which I haven't traveled to since 2024. And now there was one right in my city!? I bought a ticket, put my now 3-month-old daughter, Bunny, in her stroller, and wheeled over to the cafe. Rachel called the event "In the Room" and it was about 10 people total, mostly expats, plus a...
